Spring Art Show: First Public Viewing of "Mandorla"

New York, NY: Lilly Burgos, Brooklyn artist, also known as Miss Lilly Bee has announced the first public viewing of her new body of art work, "Mandorla" at the BWAC Outer Limits Spring Art Show on the Red Hook Pier from April 26 - June 1st, 2014. The Opening Reception with Artist Meet & Greet is on Saturday, April 26th at 1:00 - 5:30 PM.

"Mandorla" is a Mixed Media and Photography exhibit that explores the different facets of power cycles, strength and control in the lives of women today. The artist is looking to create a greater consciousness of the gender roles and the subconscious dialogues and scripts that have been fed to women by society, culture, and religion. Through out time, women have found ways to share their struggles with the gender roles imposed on them, including vision of self, present and future in order to connect and communicate with their community in a way that words can not. Miss Lilly Bee's artistic expression in "Mandorla" is an example of this type of self knowledge and consciousness. She believes that through self knowledge we will become empowered and effective women that can meet the challeges of living in the modern world.

"Mandorla" is a commentary on gender roles, power, morality and the accountability that religion and society holds women to.

About Miss Lilly Bee: Lilly Burgos is a Mixed Media artist, Fine Art Photographer, Interior Designer, Makeup Artist and lover of art, all things colorful, curious and aethetically pleasing. Her passion for cultural and social issues, the human experience, world travel, and Design directly influence her creative world. Miss Lilly Bee's goal is to always create art that is whimsical, nostalgic and unique. Her current themes range from women's issues, gender equality, Pin-ups, Shoes, Fashion to Lingerie and Erotica. Overall, Miss Lily Bee creates artwork that evokes thought on the power of women in today's world. Miss Lilly Bee's work has appeared at the Creatives Rising and The Story of the Creative exhibits. Her artwork has been published in a book called, "Art Takes Times Square" and will appear in next month's "At the Edge," New York City's Arts & Cultural Magazine, New Special Collector's Edition.

August 7, 2012

"Congratulations Lilly,

We have exciting news. After reviewing the work you submitted into the Art Takes Times Square competition, our Editiorial Committee has chosen one of your pieces to be featured in our upcoming publication, Art Takes Times Square.

Out of the tens of thousands of artists who entered the Art Takes Times Square contest, only a select few will appear in this publication. You can take pride in knowing that your work was among the best we saw, and we believe this special coffee-table book will be even better with your art included..."

Art Takes Times Square

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_8.jpg

June 18, 2012

Three months ago, tens of thousands of artists entered in the largest art competition, "Artist Wanted: Art Takes Times Square". A chance to have your artwork exhibited and displayed to the world in the biggest, brightest, most unique venue ever offered; the electronic billboards of Times Square, NYC. Over 35,000 artists competed and I was lucky enough to have been chosen to particpate and have my art piece "Candy Girl" exhibited in this spectacular art show. At 8:15 PM on the electronic billboard on 43rd Street & Broadway my artwork was displayed. I can now say that I officially got my 15 seconds of fame. Go me!
